This story took place while my husband (Lew) and I were dating and he lived with his parents and I lived with my parents.
I was just coming from the store and heading back to my house, which was right around the corner from Lew's, when this all happened. As I headed towards Lew's parents home I was somehow drawn to look up to the second floor window, which at the time was his bedroom.
As I looked up I saw my mother in-law standing in the window with the curtain pulled aside so that she could wave out to me. I waved back to her. Once we exchanged waves she moved back from the window and fixed the curtain to its proper position. I then thought of the countless times she had scolded me for not stopping in to say hi. She always said "Ya know, Lew doesn't have to be the only reason that you stop by".
I then decided to pay her a visit before I went home. I must have been knocking for at least a minute when I finally decided to go home. For some reason she wasn't answering the door. Maybe, I thought, she had still been upstairs and didn't hear me knocking or maybe she just didn't want to be bothered. So I left.
I would return later around 5:00 p.m. since that's when Lew and his father came home from work. They both worked for the same company at the time. Five O' Clock rolled around and I decided to head on over to see Lew. As soon as I had got there I asked my mother in-law why she didn't answer the door after she had seen me earlier. She looked at me rather strangely and asked at what time this took place. So I told her around 12:30 p.m. Once again she looked at me as if she had no idea what I was talking about and replied that she had been at her crafts till 3:00 p.m. and she had got there around 11:00 a.m..
We were both puzzled. I know that I saw her! Or did I? I really didn't know what to think about the whole situation. I didn't even dismiss it as a ghost until much later on. Why you may ask, because this wasn't the last time that this "ghost" was to be seen. As time went on myself, as well as Lew, would see her at least on three other occasions.
