Date: May 4th, 1999
Time: 8:00 to 11:00 p.m.
Location: Jim Thorpe, Pa
Equipment: Nikon 35mm camera loaded with Kodak Gold Max 800 speed film, Camcorder, Audio recorder.
Weather: It was a clear night. Investigation was done inside with the average temperature being 70 degrees.
History: The haunted history of the Inn was unknown to me however I do believe that there is some documented history. I saw a newspaper article hanging up in the hallway in reference to this however, I didnt read it.
Those Present: Rachel G. Sharon and Lew G. Kenny and Donna B., Andy K., Bob R.
Report: While Lew and Bob spoke with the reporter, Sharon and I paired up as usual to tour the Inn to get a feel where we would begin conducting our investigation and too determine where we would like to set up our equipment. We were lead through by the owner who showed us what rooms we had access to.
Sharon and I then proceeded to look around with no real impressions to speak of. We then went to the lobby where Lew was. At this time Sharon and I were approached by the owner who wanted us to check out room 211 which was not previously available to the group. We found no evidence of anything peculiar at this time. We were soon joined by Andy who used his digital camera which showed nothing. A short time after the room was locked and off limits for the rest of the evening. Nothing unusual happened to Sharon or I on the second floor.
On the third floor, As Sharon began to open the door to room 311 (directly above 211) the clock radio in the room went on. Although, it was probably coincidental, I still thought it to be significant enough to mention. When examining the clock, Andy found it to be set for 9:47. No other incidences occurred on the third floor except I do believe that Andy had some sort of feelings about room 315.
The fourth floor looks as though no one has used it for patronage for many years. Sharon and I were up there alone for some period examining the rooms individually. We then discovered that we both had a significant feeling about the room located at the top of the steps, room 61. I felt something fairly strong there that made me not really want to enter the room. There was also another large room on the left end of the hall that was vacant except for a bike. I also got a sense about that room. We then went downstairs to investigate the other floors, while the others checked out the 4th floor. We decided once it cleared out, we would set up our equipment up here.
Sharon, Andy and I gathered our equipment and set up in the room with the bike. While Sharon and Andy were in the room, Andy discovered a smell in the very back of the room (another small adjoining section) that he thought was sweet. I later joined Sharon and Andy and smelled the aroma myself. It smelled to me citrus like.
It seemed to come and go. Andy proceeded to talk outloud hoping to provoke the spirits into showing us some evidence of there existence. He later discovered by doing this that he picked up a male voice on his digital recorder answering him back at one point. ( Andy was the only male up on the fourth floor at this time. ) We left our equipment up there for some time. We later returned and sat on the steps of the fourth floor listening. We were soon joined by Bob. Sharon and Andy thought the had seen some movement in the halls as we were sitting there. I was not facing the hall. Right after Bob R. left the floor, all three of us heard what we thought to be whispering coming from the room where the recorders were kept.
Impression: I enjoyed this investigation very much and really felt as though there was someone or something up there with us on the 4th floor. I cannot wait to hear more about the experiences that others have had during their visits to the Inn. I believe that further investigation is warranted.
I would like to thank Dave for being so hospitable during the investigation. It was truly a pleasure. Can't wait to come back again!
