This ghostly experience of mine took place at the apartment we now live in. The day was hot and humid, typical of Philadelphia in summer. I was sitting on the living room couch watching television. I could hear Sharon, my wife, and my son in the bathroom. Sharon was helping him brush his teeth. I went into the kitchen to get something of which I don't recall. Then, I returned to watch more T.V..
We had an air conditioner in the living room that was running on the highest setting. Thinking to myself that Sharon and Zach would be coming back from the bathroom, I left the living room door open for them. Sharon hated when I would do that because the cool air would escape. In her eyes I was wasting electricity and she would complain every time I did it. As I sat on the couch, I thought it'd be a good idea for me to close the living room door (before I got yelled at by Sharon).
I was looking directly at the doorway while I was contemplating whether to shut the door. Just as the thought ran through my mind, the door closed very swiftly as I was looking at it. I had expected the door to slam loudly. In fact, I cringed in anticipation of the noise that was sure to get everyone's attention. As quickly as the door had swung closed, it did not slam.
Immediately, I darted up to open the door. I was certain that my son was the culprit and wanted to catch him running back into the bathroom. To my astonishment, no one was to be seen. Knowing there was no time for him to reach the bathroom without my seeing him, I thought maybe there was a draft. All the windows were closed, eliminating that possibility.
I ran to the bathroom, double-time. Sharon and Zach were finished and I met them at the bathroom door. I remember asking her if either she or Zach had left the bathroom for any reason. She insisted that they'd been in the lavatory the entire time. As she read the urgency in my expression, I then said "you won't believe what just happened to me.....".
