GLARE |
|
This photo is one example of a false positive image.
All ghost hunters need to know exactly what they are photographing, paying
close attention to possible reflective surfaces. The large portrait on the
wall of the Logan Inn in New Hope, PA, has a long haunted history to it.
The woman in the picture is wearing lavender. At times, visitors to the Logan
have reported a strong scent of lavender on the second floor of the inn.
Sometimes the smell is so overwhelming, visitors have become nauseous. The
proprietors have sworn that lavender, or anything resembling it, is not a
fragrance used at the inn. During our visit to the Logan, both Sharon and
I experienced the lavender scent on several occasions. That is why we
photographed the portrait. As we would enter our room, the smell permeated
the whole upstairs of the building. Only minutes later, upon leaving the
room, the smell would be gone entirely.
Something else in this image should be noted. There is a noticeable hole near the middle of the portrait. The dark setting of the picture and the light colored wall behind it, almost gives the illusion of an irregular shaped orb of light. Something such as this should also be noted by the ghost hunter when taking pics at an investigation.
Knowing the history of the portrait might substantiate a claim of the photo being truly anomalous, but it isn't. Go to the next example of glare to see a better illustration of glare from, and the hole in, this portrait.
