Date: Saturday and Sunday: March 13-14, 1999

Time: Started approx. 4:00 pm and ended around 7:00 am.

Location: Fort Mifflin, near Philadelphia International Airport.

Weather: There was no rain, mist, or fog. Temperatures fluctuated between the 20’s and 40’s depending on the time of day.

Equipment: Keystone Easy Shot 500x with fixed 38mm lens, Kodak Gold 400 speed color film, E.L.F.-Zone EMF meter, Sony mini recorder, Cyclops Compact Nightvision Scope, Radio Shack brand digital thermometer and hygrometer, Olympus D-220L digital camera with no strap.

History: Fort Mifflin is a Revolutionary War era fort sits on the Delaware River. During the Civil War, it was also used to house Confederate prisoners. There was one hanging that occurred inside the walls of the fort and many numerous others right outside. As far as ghostly history, there have been many stories and reports of incidents through out the years. You can refer to previous reports for that information. Personally, I have had experiences in the Casemates that were used for dungeons, the Powder Magazine and the Sallyports. You can reference previous reports for more information.

Those Present: Bob R., Lew G., Sharon G., Kenny B., Donna B., Andy K., Jen. J, Rachel G., Diane (who works at the Fort), a re-enactor, and Stan.

Report: Very early in the evening, Kenny, Donna, and myself ventured outside of the walls of the fort. On a previous investigation, we were told that there were some casemates located in the woods outside of the fort. So we went looking for them. It did not take us long to find them. As soon as we approached the second one, I felt as though I was being watched. I took numerous pictures with the digital camera and I turned up some orbs. We explored this area and got some more results with the digital camera. I have been told that there was no activity, such as fighting , etc., that occurred out there during the war, but I still had some distinct impressions. After a period of time we left that area and returned to the inside of the fort. After grabbing a quick bite to eat, I went over to the powder magazine to see how the set up of Stan’s equipment was going. I took a couple of pictures and got a couple of orbs. I did not want to disturb any of the results that we may get with Stan’s equipment, so I stayed away from the Powder Magazine for most of the night.

The next few hours were for the most part uneventful. I ventured around some of the buildings. I did get intermittent results in some of the rooms. The most notable occurred in an upstairs room that is located near a known “hot spot”. I had started getting some pics and a couple of shots had numerous orbs in them. I went back downstairs to pull the pictures off of my digital camera. Diane was intrigued by the photos so she offered to take us upstairs to the vault where some of the fort’s many artifacts are located. When we entered the room, the space heaters that were located in these rooms were turned up all of the way. We turned the one located in the room with the vault, off. As we were looking around in the vault, myself, Kenny, Donna, and Diane all heard the space heater turn on. Sure enough when we went out to check on it it was turned all the way up. We set up a video camera and turned the heater off. For the rest of the night, I ventured the grounds and also made two more trips to the casemates on the outside of the fort. Each time there, I got numerous feelings and impressions that something was there. We did get more pictures of orbs and there was some heated discussion as to what was being seen could be attributed to dust. It will take some experimenting in the future before I will feel real confident about my photo results.

There is really nothing else to report about my part of the investigation.

Impressions: I have had some strong impressions and experiences every time that I have been here. I think that there are numerous spirits residing at this fort. I do feel that there is something in the casemates outside of the fort. I welcome any chance to walk inside the walls of Mifflin. I feel that our work is far from done here. There are many more areas to focus our investigations towards and much more documentation that needs to be done.

Thanks again to Diane for allowing us access for another over night investiagation. Also thanks need to go to Stan for allowing us to use his equipment.
