FORCED BREATH |
|
This photo was taken on 1-29-99 as an experiment
by PGHA member Andy K. Using his new digital camera, he thought it appropriate
to image his own crystalized breath in the nighttime cold air. We found this
experiment to be quite noteworthy as we have never witnessed a photo
demonstrating this natural phenomena. He made it a point to photograph his
breath while breathing both normally and forcefully. The image contained
on this page was taken while breathing forcefully and holding the digital
camera as one would a conventional camera. Even relaxed breath, combined
with a camera flash, can yield a natural anomaly that closely resembles
ectoplasmic vapor. This illustrates the importance of why we must always
be careful when taking photographs in cold weather. One must always hold
their breath before snapping an image under chilly conditions. Our recommendation
would be to hold for 5 or more seconds, take the image, then
breathe.
