Date: Tuesday, May 4th, 1999

Time: My part of the investigation started around 8:30 and ended around 10:15.

Location: The Inn at Jim Thorpe in Jim Thorpe, PA.

Weather: The temperature of the Inn was in the low 70’s and the upper floors seemed to be much warmer.

Equipment: Keystone Easy Shot 500x with fixed 38mm lens, Kodak Gold 400 speed color film, E.L.F.-Zone EMF meter, Sony mini recorder, Cyclops Compact Nightvision Scope, Radio Shack brand digital thermometer and hygrometer, Olympus D-220L digital camera with no strap, Sony Cam-corder.

History: This area of Pennsylvania is very rich in the history of the struggles of the people who lived there. The Inn was built in the 1840’s and has over 25 rooms. There are 5 stories to the building with the upper floor not being open to the general public. The Inn at Jim Thorpe is also well documented in local newspapers for its haunting activity. You can check out their web page for more information at www.innjt.com

Those Present: Bob R., Lew G., Sharon G., Kenny B., Donna B., Andy K., and Rachel G.

Report: At the very beginning of the investigation, I sat down with Lew and a reporter from a local newspaper to talk about the PGHA. I did not start investigating right away. After about a half an hour or so, we did make our way up to the second floor where most of the group was investigating. When we got to the top of the stairs, I was looking through the video camera and I experienced the type of “blurring” that has been seen at some investigations around the time that an orb has been picked up on video. I told Lew about this and we started taking pictures and thermal readings. Nothing came of this. I ended up walking around on the second floor by myself for a while. I entered room 215 and took some pics. I did capture one orb and not much of anything else. I then proceeded to walk up to the next floor and looked around for a while. I had no feelings or results. That was when I proceeded to walk up to the top floor. I met up with Sharon and Rachel and we walked around for a little while.

I took several pictures with the digital camera. I did not have any positive results until I walked into a hallway that seemed to go through a couple of rooms. I then got two pics with numerous orbs over by a far door. After a short periods of time I did not get any more pics, so I decided to go up to the door. The door seemed to be locked. I tried just about everything except for picking the lock or breaking the door down without any success. I later found out that Kenny had no problem getting this door open. Both Sharon and myself had believed the door to be locked. After a short time, I focused my investigation on the second floor with no real results to report. I went up to the fourth floor and said my Good-byes and that was the end of my part of the investigation.

Impressions: I did get a strange feeling on the top floor. I would think in the future that it would be nice to focus part of my investigation up there. I am not certain if the house is truly haunted, but I would like an opportunity to get more evidence. I would also like to thank out hosts for allowing us to have free access to as much of the building as was possible.
